This work was created for the theme proposed by the curator: scale. Christian Parreño, a fellow architect, has worked on design projects in Quito, London and China. Nevertheless his interest rests more in the theory and history of architecture.  I developed this image after our conversations around how my height (150 cms) influences how I see and understand the world around me. Christian helped me choose the image and reflect on how to incorporate the idea of scale, manipulating and blowing it up out of focus and proportion. The effect is of a small detail that from far away, seems as a correct image (in focus) loosing its details as the observer walks towards it. The photograph was taken when the site was being reformed for the third time; the 24 de mayo boulevard was one of the old limits of our city, Quito. It is a problematic place where sex workers and drug dealers operate and the police and local government try to "clean", as it is part of the town center, visited usually by tourists.
