Yaku Museo del Agua

Quito, 2005

The water contained in each of this drips comes from the north, center and south neighborhoods of Quito. It was collected from private and public places, after some time the water in these drips began to change in color and some even grew visible algae.

Hanging from the drips are small metal objects that resemble part of tear gas bombs -these were created after some real tear gas bomb parts were collected after the riots of 2005.

Christian and I were invited to present an art project for the opening of this amazing space: Yaku, museo del agua. Our proposal dealt with the idea of water as a purifying medium, as in a christian baptism and as away to conduct medicine.
